(No, seriously, that is the title of the article)
Back in February, Eric Holder – the country's first black Attorney General – announced that we were a nation of cowards because, "we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough to each other about race." Holder is right. That there are still organizations operating in this country that demonize, target, and victimize innocent people simply because of the color of their skin is unconscionable. That there are still hate groups in our midst whose very foundation is rooted in a malevolent contempt for minorities is disgusting. That, while we stand quietly, there are those working daily inside this country to commit genocide against blacks is an abomination. And worse, still others go beyond complicit silence and actually attempt to give legitimacy and offer defense for such institutions perpetrating these atrocities. These devastating realities only prove Holder's assertion to be accurate. It is inescapable...as long as Planned Parenthood continues to operate in this country, we are a nation of cowards.

Zinedine Zidane believes that Cristiano Ronaldo was always destined to play for Real Madrid and that the Portuguese is now the biggest star in world football.
The French legend is delighted that the former Manchester United forward completed a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer for a record breaking €94 million.
Having been part of the Galactico era at Madrid, Zidane is well placed to judge, and he thinks that Ronaldo is even bigger than David Beckham.
“Cristiano Ronaldo was destined to end up at Real Madrid - he is the perfect player for this club," he was quoted as saying by Sport.
“He has star quality like no other in the football world right now – not even my good friend David Beckham can compete with him anymore.”
Zidane is back at Real Madrid in an ambassadorial role and is pleased with his position at the club.
“Ever since I ended my career I hoped I could return to Real Madrid in some capacity. The club has played a huge part in my life," he continued.
“Don Florentino Perez contacted me about being an advisor on sporting matters – that was a dream role for me because I know football and I know a lot of people.”

| For Old Snaggle Tooth by Charles Bukowski |
[08 Nov 2009|03:17am] |
I know a woman who keeps buying puzzles chinese puzzles blocks wires pieces that finally fit into some order. she works it out mathematically she solves all her puzzles lives down by the sea puts sugar out for the ants and believes ultimately in a better world. her hair is white she seldom combs it her teeth are snaggled and she wears loose shapeless coveralls over a body most women would wish they had. for many years she irritated me with what I consider her eccentricities - like soaking eggshells in water (to feed the plants so that they'd get calcium). but finally when I think of her life and compare it to other lives more dazzling, original and beautiful I realize that she has hurt fewer people than anybody I know (and by hurt I simply mean hurt). she has had some terrible times, times when maybe I should have helped her more for she is the mother of my only child and we were once great lovers, but she has come through like I said she has hurt fewer people than anybody I know, and if you look at it like that, well, she has created a better world. she has won.

Iris - Annie, Would I Lie to You? * |
] |
"Look about you, Clarke. You see the mountain, and hill following after hill, as wave on wave, you see the woods and orchard, the fields of ripe corn, and the meadows reaching to the reed-beds by the river. You see me standing here beside you, and hear my voice; but I tell you that all these things-- yes, from that star that has just shone out in the sky to the solid ground beneath our feet--I say that all these are but dreams and shadows; the shadows that hide the real world from our eyes. There is a real world, but it is beyond this glamour and this vision, beyond these 'chases in Arras, dreams in a career,' beyond them all as beyond a veil. I do not know whether any human being has ever lifted that veil; but I do know, Clarke, that you and I shall see it lifted this very night from before another's eyes. You may think this all strange nonsense; it may be strange, but it is true, and the ancients knew what lifting the veil means. They called it seeing the god Pan." "

Dear This Weekend, I went to bed Thursday night thinking of the possibilities of you. You, I thought, would bring probably a bit of drama (Newbury related), and probably a bit of cuddling (at Newbury's).
Instead you brought me the realization that really, really, he's not what I need.
Instead, you led me to cuddling with C at Mike's, stealing his number from Cait's phone, and being bluntly told to go after him by a very drunk biff as we left.
As Matt drove me home he told me that he had talked to biff about it, and C was just... all around a better choice. That, no offense, he'd just respect me a little bit less if I ended up dating Newbury.
I don't think that'll end up being a problem, with how he essentially avoided me this weekend, anyway. Was he really sick, or did he just not want to tell me he had other plans?
Interesting turn from last weekend.
Sam.
Dear Newbury,
Although we know I'm easily persuaded, pretty much everyone agreed. And, sadly enough, it's what I was thinking Thursday night, when I tried to imagine any interaction between us this weekend. After that conversation we had, I just can't take you seriously. What are you trying to prove by talking to me, and to whom? Yourself? Ari? Whatever. I don't really believe you, and I never trusted you. We'll see where this road takes us, but I really don't feel like I'm ever going to go on that date I promised you.
I only ever said I guess, anyway.
Woman.
PS: What did you think, when I walked in with him, anyway? Did it matter at all? It wasn't my idea to visit, I promise you that- but it felt strangely reminiscent of the time I walked into First's store with Second, and I'm not sure what that really means, other than that I equate you to him of all people.
Dear C,
......Hmm. Interesting.
We'll certainly see where this takes us.
S. Dear First Boy,
I know. I said no more letters, so many times. But I dreamt of you last night- it was you, me, and your friend, all lying around and relaxing. There was no background, but rom our positions it seemed like we were lying on your bed while he was sitting in the computer chair. You were clicking through songs on your iTunes when he asked you, "but, how do you feel about her now?" He was talking about me. "Do you still love her?" You shrugged, and tried to explain to him that, you had loved me, but since I had gone away, it was just fading. I took so little offense to it as to be shocking; I agreed.
I woke up and wasn't preoccupied by thoughts of you. I haven't been in so very long.
I'm glad I'm over you and the destructive power you held over me for so long. It's freeing.
S.

Yesterday, Sel tweeted, “[My mom Mandy] made me turn the depressing music off and put on ‘One Time’ by my boy Justin Bieber. Why does he always put me in a good mood?” ( ++++++++++++ )

| Turkey Embrances Creationism and Intelligent Design from US. Evolution is Satan's Handywork. |
[07 Nov 2009|11:36pm] |
In Turkey, fertile ground for creationism U.S. critics of evolution help translate their ideas for a society already torn between Islam and secularism
Sema Ergezen teaches biology to Turkish students interested in teaching science themselves, and she has long struggled with her students' ignorance of, and sometimes hostility to, the notion of evolution.
But she was taken aback when several of her Marmara University students recently accused her of being an atheist, or worse, for teaching anything but the doctrine that God created the Earth and everything on it.
"They said I was a liar if I called myself a Muslim because I also accepted evolution," she said.
What especially disturbed -- and amused -- the veteran professor was that the arguments for creationism presented by some of the students came directly from the country where she was educated in the biological sciences years before -- the United States. Translated and adapted for a Muslim society, the purported proofs that Darwinism and evolution were wrong came directly from American proponents of Christian creationism and its less overtly religious offshoot, intelligent design. | Joseph Cao: The Lone Republican Ranger... |
[07 Nov 2009|11:31pm] |
Joseph Cao: Health Care's LONE Republican Supporter Is Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao
One Republican lawmaker out of 177 crossed party lines to support the health care reform legislation offered by Democrats.
Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao, the Louisiana Republican who hails from a decidedly Democratic New Orleans district, voted yea on the final passage of legislation. He joined 219 Democrats to make the final margin 220 to 215 in favor of reform's passage.
Cao was a major (and possibly the lone) target for Democrats hoping to get even a semblance of bipartisan support for the bill. He said after the vote that he had obtained a "commitment from President Obama that he and I will work together to address the critical health care issues of Louisiana."
In the past, Cao has been touted by House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) as "the future" of the GOP. Republicans clearly went the distance to keep him in the fold for the health care vote. House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.), who promised protesters at a Tea Party rally this week that "not one Republican will vote for this bill," was standing beside Cao as the historic vote unfolded. | how "precious" could have been |
[08 Nov 2009|12:56am] |

According to author Sapphire, the author whose novel inspired "Precious," Madonna was set to produce the movie & Brandy was also set to play the main character.
Sapphire, the author whose novel inspired the much-buzzed-about film, told Entertainment Weekly about the many offers she received and eventually turned down to take her book to the big screen.
One of them came from a producer who thought R&B singer and “Moesha” star Brandy should play the obese, illiterate New York City teenager. “I remember this one producer told me that he had found Precious—and it was going to be Brandy,” a shocked Sapphire said. “Excuse me? I literally almost hung up on him.”
She even received an offer from pop icon Madonna. “Then Madonna wanted to produce it. I was like, ‘Madonna?’ I don’t think this is her film.”
Filmmaker Lee Daniels (Monster’s Ball) eventually won the rights to make the movie, casting Sidibe as Precious and comedian Mo’Nique as her abusive mother, Mary Jones. Precious is now open in select cities.
